I've been very, very busy lately. I was taking Italian classes through University of Maryland University College on base. I took Italian 1-3 and Life and Cultures class that covered Italian history, culture and literature from the beginning of history through the Renaissance. There's a second half of that class that covers everything from the Renaissance forward that I want to take as well. Plus a Dante in Translation class that I'm dying to take. Once I take those two classes, I'll have enough credits for a certificate in Italian Studies. I'm hoping to get that.
I also started working at the base Bowling center in February. I enjoy my job there. I'm just working in the snack bar. I work with a great bunch of guys. Mostly Italian. All really good men and women. They're all a lot of fun to be with.
I'm considering enlisting in the Navy myself. I'm still under the age limit. I took the ASVAB on Friday. I won't get the results for a few more weeks but if I qualify for corpsman I'm definitely going in. I might consider other careers but corpsman is what I really, really want.

So I saw a new Dr today
One on base who specializes in chronic pain. He's at a loss. He's thinking autoimmune but my ANA test keeps coming back negative.
He's put in a referral for me to see a Rheumatoligist off base. May be a few weeks before I can get an appointment and a translator will have to go with me.

Random things
First days of school went well. 2nd grader is doing well this year so far. Granted it's only the second week, but he's adjusting to the extra work.
Kindergarten started yesterday and my K student is having a blast. She was up before everyone this morning and dressed already. She loves it!
My class is going ok. Learning a new language at my age is tough. All the different pronouns to use for each different situation. Confusing! I'm committed though. I'm going to get together with someone else in class to work on it and I have a couple Italian friends who are willing to help me practice. We'll see how I do.

Keep the people of New Orleans in your thoughts
This storm is downright terrifying. It's going to be way worse than Katrina. The potential for hundreds of lives lost. Please keep this region in your thoughts.
